A small embroidery shop for caps worth keeping.
Nidol makes embroidered caps in the United States, one at a time, after they are ordered. The designs come from art students we work with. The stitching comes from our own machines.
Who we are
Nidol started with a plain observation: almost everything on the caps people wear is printed, and print does not age well. It cracks, it fades, and after a season it looks like what it is — ink sitting on cloth. Embroidery is the older, slower answer. Thread stands above the fabric, catches light, and is still there after the hundredth wash.
So we built a shop around thread. Every cap on this site is stitched to order on our own embroidery machines in the USA. There is no warehouse of finished caps waiting to be discounted. A cap exists because someone asked for it.
The designs come from art students. We commission a small run at a time, put the artist's name on the product page, and keep it there. It is how we get work that does not look like everyone else's, and how people who draw for a living get seen on something that leaves the house every day.
Personalization is part of the same idea. A name on the back panel, a date, a set of initials — stitched in the same thread, on the same machines, with the same care as the artwork on the front.
We are a small shop, and we would rather promise less and keep it. What you get is what we can actually do: real thread, a person behind every stitch file, a photograph of every cap before it ships, and a straight answer when something goes wrong.
How a cap gets made
Drawn
Every run starts with designs from art students we work with. The artist's name goes on the product page and stays there.
Digitized
Someone turns the artwork into a stitch file by hand. Software assists; it does not decide. This step is why new designs take a few extra days.
Stitched
On our own machines in the USA. Every piece is made after it sells, and photographed three times before it ships.
Worn
Pick a design, add a name if you like, and wear something that did not exist until you ordered it.
Why embroidery
A plain cap is a product. The same cap with a stitched name is a gift. With an artist's design on it, it is a small edition. One blank, one line, three things people pay for.
Embroidery is also the cleanest way to decorate a garment. No ink, no wash water. The only consumable is thread, which is why a line can run in a warehouse, a studio or a garage.
Because nothing is made before it is ordered, there is no leftover stock at the end of a season. What does not sell simply is not made.
And thread outlasts print. Stitching stands above the weave and catches light; ink sits inside the fibres and fades with them. That difference is the whole reason this shop makes sense.
